Hunting
is also very popular in the Hiawatha National Forest. Sall-Mar Resort
is just minutes away from some of the best hunting of ruffed grouse, rabbit,
deer, bear, coyote, and bobcat. We have a full line of shotgun and
rifle shells, and maps of the Hiawatha National Forest. For your
convenience we also sell hunting licenses.
September
15th sees the opening of small-game season. Hunters take to the woods
in search of the fast-flying ruffed grouse, or try to outsmart cotton-tail
rabbits or snowshoe hares!
September also brings the start of the
Michigan bear season. Bear populations are very good in Michigan’s
upper peninsula, and Delta County is home to many of the large bruins.
October
1st is the much-awaited start of the archery deer season. Large tracts
of public land are located just minutes away from Sall-Mar, offering the
archer a great opportunity for the mighty whitetail!
Fall
is indeed a special time of the year as the changing of the seasons takes
place. Mother Nature’s beauty is in full swing, and the Forest provides
opportunities for all. Plan a fall vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
and experience the splendor first-hand!
